In his outdoor workshop in Accra, Ghana, master artist Tei Kofi Nartey and his apprentices create adinkra cloth, a textile imbued with symbols that represent Ashanti proverbs. Peter Boakye wears a silkscreened T-shirt with a version of the symbol sankofa (“go back and fetch it”) meaning we should learn from the past.
